about

Oliver S. I am in 10th grade, I listen to all different kinds of music

For my Final project, I wanted to make something that used a lot of unique sounds, as well as using almost no pre made sounds. Every sound in the project I recorded myself, except for the violins and the 808’s. I was inspired by nature when I started this project, so the majority of the sounds that I used and mixed I recorded in nature. When I first started this project I wanted it to be happy and peaceful, but as I got into it more and experimented with different sounds and different modifications to those sounds, I found that I really enjoyed making them sound sort of creepy. The biggest change I made with most of the recordings was to amplify the base and add a lot of reverb. I liked how that made it sound creepy, mysterious, and In a few cases almost like the sound was recorded underwater. Over the course of the few weeks that I worked on this project, I recorded sounds from a creek, a VHS, pebbles, birds, creeks recorded underwater, heartbeats, and even bats. I do like how this project turned out, even though with more time, I could make it a lot better. I think over the course of this semester, I have grown to love to use real sounds that we hear normally, and make them into something completely different.
