about

Evan K. and Quentin W.

Quentin and I worked together on a rap song that we wrote about the racial divide that is currently happening. So much seems to be wrong right now, and it feels like a tunnel with no light at the end (Granted that’s an incredibly dramatic way to put it). We did use loops but we cut them up to make it as much our own as we could since neither one of us has mastered the MIDI yet. We both have been influenced by our rap idols which span from people like Tupac to Eminem to Dr. Dre, and other greats of the game.

LYRICS:
Verse 1 (Quentin):

It seems like every day, there’s something popping off,
Always got something to say, about who is right or wrong.
Caught up in a race, why can’t yall get along,
Just drop all of the hate, and watch me drop these bombs.
Vandalized buildings,
Better hide ya children,
Never gettin better if yall cannot find your chill and,
Stop playing the victim,
Blame it on the system,
Got the dudes in blue who are cool with killing citizens.
Long as they got pigment,
Then they is indifferent,
How can you go to sleep knowing what the pigs did?
America is wicked,
Shit is getting twisted,
Both of yall got problems, just find a way to fix it.
But instead yall going back and forth,
Thousands dead like we was having war,
Armeaggedon’s knockin at the door,
And our common sense is worse than ever before.
Come on people, raise your hands,
Don’t be weak, let's take a stand,
But first we need to shake the hands,
Of the other side and break the dam,
That tries to separate, us from them,
Cuz we all just people in the end,
We was all made equal in the end.
And if we don’t try then it’ll be the end,
And I don’t really wanna see the end.
All that I want is peace again,
So that even if you disagree with a man,
You can both be free to speak again,
Since when did it get so extreme?
It’s them or us, it’s him or me.

Verse 2 (Evan):

Cough and chills, it’s hard to breathe,
It’s taken so many lives we can’t compete,
And yet were scared of each other instead of the disease,
It’s no wonder we have so many deceased.
Black and whites are separated,
Like your doing the laundry it's all segregated,
Why are people all filled with hatred?
Like they wanna be angry and infuriated.
Back to back brutality victims,
Police keep killing, so much grievance inflicted,
And even so, hardly any convicted,
And some of y’all don’t see a problem with this shit?
So that’s what I call being slave to the system,
The one that hates someone just because of their pigment,
Forcing us to choose a side we need to resist it,
Relax a little bit and just give it a listen…
Because as long as police are enabled by lies,
People terrorizing because they’re terrified,
Scared of each other but no one knows why,
Then we aren’t gon resolve this racial divide.
These people are twisted like weed and liquor,
They’re going to the Capitol just to bicker,
And the fog that you’re in just keeps getting thicker,
You’re blinded to the truth from this Twitter bullshitter.
Cuz you though he had a clear plan, a crystal method,
Now he just seems like a crystal meth head,
And people can’t seem to stop getting arrested,
For fighting for their equal rights that have been rejected
So I’m bringing the bombs like Lonnie Coffman…
Yo, why the beat cut off,
Hold up…
I flip on the mic like I do on a skillet,
And when the beat drops you know I’m gonna kill it,
I’m digging a hole for this beat just to fill it,
Buried under the ground encase it and seal it.
In case the encasement don’t fully conceal it,
I got a plan B but I cannot reveal it,
I must walk away from the scene of the crime
Before I end up in Jail like Tech-Nine
In “Like I Ain’t” cappin I’m just rapping,
Bout the inequality that keeps happening.
Never seen a prez wreak so much havoc
The Capitol got raided cuz this man is satanic.
He won’t discipline police and now they won’t hold back,
They’ll kill another black man “Oh but they didn’t know that”
He was unarmed praying “God don’t take me back yet”
Cuz they’ll do anything to pull out a gat and click
